This is a label from the U.K. and here is some information about it taken from James Hamilton's columns in Record Mirror:
May 1986: Street Sounds are about to have a rival, Serious Records, who release their first double LP 'Upfront 1' next week (at single LP price) containing current hits by Princess, Joyce Sims (remix), George Clinton, William Bell, Cool Notes, Willie Collins (title track), TC Curtis, Crown Heights Affair (original), Steve 'Silk' Hurley, Total Contrast, Spyder-D, Ice-T, MC Boob, Cut Master DC, plus two megamixes of all these - impressive, huh?
March 1987: Serious Records seem seriously to be filling the Street Sounds void, signing a two year deal with PRT
April 1987: Serious Records are starting another label called Needle Records, to carry a new 'Dance Mania' compilation LP series, as a supplement to the 'Upfront' series, plus they're releasing a beefed-up US revamp of 'Rock The House (Medley)', which in their version will no longer be credited to Mr K Mix by Special K
December 1988: Serious Records are indeed being put into liquidation, although Mahesh Bajaj's other Needle Records and Low Fat Vinyl labels will continue to trade, the previously mentioned winding up petition against Serious having frozen the company's accounts and caused cash flow difficulties (as so often happens in similar cases)
February 1989: Mahesh Bajaj has apparently signed Bonnie Byrd's import hit for his Needle and Upfront labels, which he continues to run from the offices of PRT (his biggest creditor in the crash of Serious Records, so obviously the company still has faith in him - just as it did in Morgan Khan under similiar circumstances)
